“I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States…”
Today, our nation honors our men and women in uniform, both in our armed forces who have served past and present, and our law enforcement officers that have lost their lives or have become disabled while they protect and serve.
Ask anyone who has served whether or not they consider themselves a hero. .. go on, I’ll wait. I bet the answer was, “No.” I beg to differ. A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles. Whether it’s the streets of Fallujah or the streets of Detroit, everyday these men and women put on their uniform and endure. They are the first and last line of defense between civility and chaos… they are defenders of our Constitution. They stand watch at night so that you and I may sleep under the blanket of freedom. They are, indeed heroes.
May God bless those who have served in our military both past and present and to our men and women of law enforcement that have lost their lives in the line of duty. You will always be America’s heroes.
