A Brief Lesson on The First Amendment

I received a message just a short time ago, from a complete tool…er…person, after I complimented an incredible video by secularstupidest.com .

Thank you  secularstupidest.com for the use of your video – great site!

The message was from “DiscoFunkit”, (which kind of tells me all I need to know..)

DiscoFunkit: USING “UNDER GOD” IN THE PLEDGE IS AGAINST THE FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS YOURS AND MINE!!!
WE ARE NOT A CHRISTIAN NATION!!
*note he even wrote in all caps for my benefit. I guess the larger the font, the more true it is.

American Infidel: This country may not have an official religion, this is true, but our laws and this country were very much founded on Judeo-Christian heritage and law.

Now for a brief lesson on the Constitution and the breach of my constitutional rights. The First Amendment reads in part: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion..”

no law respecting an establishment of religion”  What part of that don’t you get? I hate when people try to skew the Constitution to fit their own agenda.

So there you have it.
This wouldn’t bother me so much if it wasn’t for the fact that so many ill informed Americans believe as Disco Duck (whatever his name is) does.

They want to lament freedom from religion because that’s what they want to believe was established by the Bill of Rights.  Sorry to bust your bubble Disco Duck, but you’re just plain wrong.

What an idiot. And people wonder why this country is in trouble!

I don’t wonder why this country is in trouble. I can see it clear as day when people can’t make the logical connection between “…no law respecting an establishment of religion…” and creating law that acknowledges God as the aegis under which the country was founded.

If the Tea Party can’t understand the impropriety of involving religion in government, they will never be able to defeat those who want to replace that God with Society.

Marxism is a secularized Sermon on the Mount. The first American socialists broadcast from the pulpit. The answer is not to get your values into power. The answer is to stop people from being abe to use the law to advance their values. If you can’t uproot the deeper premise, your garden will grow in the same poisoned earth.
