The Pentagon has released a statement confirming that soldiers could be prosecuted for promoting their faith: “Religious proselytization is not permitted within the Department of Defense…Court martials and non-judicial punishments are decided on a case-by-case basis…”
The statement, released to Fox News, follows a Breitbart News report on Obama administration Pentagon appointees meeting with anti-Christian extremist Mikey Weinstein to develop court-martial procedures to punish Christians in the military who express or share their faith.
There’s been some speculation as to whether or not this could be true. I assure you, it is.
Michael L. “Mikey” Weinstein is an attorney, businessman, and former Air Force officer. He is the founder and president of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, (MRFF) and author of With God on Our Side: One Man’s War Against an Evangelical Coup in America’s Military which describes his fight against alleged coercive Christian Fundamentalist practices by some members of the military. On his foundation’s website, he even goes as far as referring to proselytizing as spiritual rape. “This is a national security threat. What is happening [aside from sexual assault] is spiritual rape. And what the Pentagon needs to understand is that it is sedition and treason. It should be punished.”
Treason? He’s just as extreme as the people his organization targets and this is the man and organization the Pentagon called on to deal with their perceived “problem”.
So why would the Obama administration consult with Weinstein of all people? One only has to look closer at the MRFF website.
- “There is systematic misogyny, anti-Semitism and Islamophobia in the military.”
- “I Am Ashamed of West Point (Islamophobia vs. cadet)”
- His latest Op Ed on Huffington Post: “Fundamentalist Christian Monsters”
- The number one reason sited as to why Rev. David Barton should be disinvited to the Ft. Leonard Wood National Prayer Breakfast: 1. Open contempt for and denigration of the President and other government officials.
Are you seeing a pattern here?
The Family Research Council has launched a nationwide petition urging the Pentagon to scrub their plans to court-martial Christians: Protect religious freedom for our troops – not attack it
